PT is crucial to your success!

A friend's mother recently went through knee replacement. She is in her early 70s and is what I would consider fit for her age. She shops, she meets friends, etc. all without any assistance like a cane or walker. However.... she is now almost 3 weeks away from her surgery and is still being pushed to dinner in a walker. What?

PT is to get you moving and as back to normal as you can be. You may always have some stiffness in your knees and not quite as much range of motion as you did but you should be pretty close. But in order to get there you need to work at it! Push yourself in pt to get the strength built up in your leg and to get your range of motion back. Those exercises are the foundation of how well you are going to heal.

Listen to your pt and continue to do those exercises once you get home. It will truly make a difference in how well you do in the future!
