One thing that surprised me at first was that my ability to predict the weather stayed even though my knees were removed. If there is a front coming, my knees still ache! I've heard from many others that the same is true for them.
When I had my 10 year checkup I mentioned that to the doctor. I said "I always tell people if they could predict the weather before their surgery, they will still be able to predict it." He replied "Good. I wouldn't want to take away anybody's livelihood." :-)
